For the conservatives and religious nuts running around out there, spouting off that gays and lesbians shouldn’t be allowed to adopt or have children, because straight couples are better parents; here is a study proving otherwise.
A study lasting nearly 25 years published in the journal Pediatrics showed that “Children from lesbian families rated higher in social, academic and total competence. They also showed lower rates in social, rule-breaking, aggressive problem behavior.” Overall the study showed that children of lesbian parents had fewer overall behavioral issues.
Unfortunately the study was funded by the group it was researching and only followed 78 children, but at least someone is studying this subject, and trying to look for actual factual proof to counteract the rhetoric of the religious right.
